Download and Installation Instructions for SMART Board Notebook Software
1) Check your system requirements.
There are a few minimum technical requirements. Most people don't have any problems except for... Flash Player.
Intel processor 1.5 GHz or faster recommended
2 GB of free hard disk space
Adobe Flash Player 11.1 or later
Pentium IV or higher processor
2.5 GB of free hard disk space
Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 operating system

If you have no idea what version of Flash Player that you have or if you haven't updated Flash in months, you will want to get install this Flash Player update before you install Notebook software. Notebook software relies heavily on Flash. If Flash is not updated or if Flash is not working right, then Notebook software won't run.
If you try getting the software through the SMART Board website, they force you to enter your name and email address. This way- we are getting rid of the 'middle man.' I am using my Dropbox folder to store these installation files so the link goes to my SMART Board folder page in Dropbox.
Note for PC: There is also a download patch for SMART Ink that you should install. But do this after you have already installed SMART Notebook, the Lesson Activity Toolkit and the Gallery Essentials files.
INSTALLATION
The key to installing is knowing where your downloads save to. Is it the Desktop, the Downloads folder, My Documents folder or some other place?
Note: You will be prompted to enter in a product key number. Just skip that part if you don't have one. You still get a 30-day free evaluation trial. One of the ITS staff can give you a product key.
Another note: For the SMART Board session on July 31st, I will email you the product key number so you will have one to enter while you are doing the installation.
One last note: You can ignore the extra installation options to add SMART Response, SMART Vantage or the 3D Tools. Yes, it is okay for the SMART Board tools to start when you start your computer.
Mac- Just double-click on thesmartnotebooksoftware2012.dmg file. Then double-click the package icon. Enter the product key, if you have one.
After this installation, repeat the same process for the smartboardgalleryformac.dmg file.
PC- Double-click on the smartnotebooksoftware2012.exe file. Follow the steps and enter the product key, if you have one.
After this installation, unzip the lessonactivitytoolkit.zip and the galleryessentials.zip files. Then install both files. (The order doesn't matter.) For the last step, install the SMART Ink patch file.
